| 摘要 | The article looks at ethnic and religious conflict in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. After a giant Buddha statue was placed near the town's main market, conflict between the region's Tamilian Hindu, Tamilian Christian, and Sinhalese Buddhist populations began. Vanniasingam Vigneswaran led the protests against the statue and was later killed. The article discusses the anti-Tamil pogrom and the following war in 1983. |
