| 摘要 | This study gives a brief introduction to the history of Zen Buddhism and illustrates the six basic principles of Zen: suchness, individual spirit, living here and now, opposition, liberation, and enlightenment. This study applies the above Zen principles to an analysis of three plays by Hwang Mei-shu: Good Heavens!, The Comedy of Yang Shih-jen, and Cathay Visions. Since these plays are full of the spirit of Zen, it is appropriate to approach them from the Zen point of view. The dissertation also shows that theatre is a good way to illuminate Zen. |
