| 摘要 | In the Japanese intellectual tradition, there is an important facet which was--and is --closely related to the discursive formation of modern/contemporary Japan; that is, anti-metaphysics, anti-rationalism, anti-theory, and/or anti-intellectualism. This facet first became manifest in the late 17 th century as criticism against the continental religions and philosophies such as Buddhism or Confucianism: Ogyu Sorai, a Japanese Confucian scholar of the 17 th century, criticized the Confucian trend at that time for its reducing Confucius' political project expanded Sorai's critique into the total negation of metaphysical thoughts, religions, or rationalism, claiming that any transcendence, authority--religious or political--, or law--metaphysical or corporeal--invented by man's intelligence was illusory and empty. |
