| 摘要 | In this thesis I suggest that any investigation into the status of historical female practitioners in Tantric Buddhism must incorporate an understanding of gender that challenges the image of women in Tantra as idealized constructions, and not as evidence of historical practices. I propose a new historiographical model that incorporates feminist theoretical discussions of gender as a category of analysis in order to examine the idealized images of Tantra as discursive constructions. This model is developed through a critique of Miranda Shaw's Passionate Enlightenment, a study of women in the historical Tantric tradition that relies exclusively on the idealized images of Tantra's religious imagination in order to draw conclusions on the lives of the tradition's female practitioners. |
