| 抄録 | This article examines how Mongolian Buddhist monks view the freedom they have experienced since the fall of Soviet socialism in 1990. Whereas the anthropological literature on postsocialism tends to focus on political and economic transformations, I argue that contemporary Mongolian politics points to the coexistence and interdependence of human and nonhuman agents. The article highlights how, in the context of the country's current mining boom, postsocialist politics requires attention to contemporary religious practices and spiritual beings beyond the ‘secular’. Considering emerging forms of Buddhist environmentalism, I describe how the freedom projects of Mongolian monks crystallize the intersection of Soviet socialist materialism, neoliberal individualism, and a Buddhist ethics of self-transformation.
L’article étudie le regard porté par les moines bouddhistes mongols sur la liberté qu’ils connaissent depuisla chute du socialisme soviétique en1990. Alors que la littérature anthropologique consacrée aupost-socialisme se concentre surtout sur les transformations politiques et économiques, l’auteure avanceque la politique contemporaine en Mongolie suggère la coexistence et l’interdépendance d’agents humainset non humains. L’article montre comment, dans le contexte de l’essor minier actuel du pays, la politiquepostsocialiste demande le respect de pratiques religieuses contemporaines et d’êtres spirituelsextra-séculiers. En examinant les formes émergentes de l’écologie bouddhiste, il décrit la manière dont lesprojets de liberté des moines mongols cristallisentle croisement entre matérialisme socialiste soviétique,individualisme néolibéral et éthique bouddhiste de la transformation de soi. |
