| 抄録 | The purpose of this study is to understand Buddhist context shown in the music of Yoon Yi-Sang. Many religions such as Shamanism, which is a native religion of Korea, Taoism and even Christianity have given effects to the music of Yoon Yi-Sang. Especially, with an exception of Buddhism, Taoism has given the biggest effect to the music of Yoon Yi-Sang. His work, (1968) for flute, oboe, violin and cello reveals the characteristic of Taoism well. Its reason is that Yen & Yang, relationship between small universe and large universe and fusion of all confronting materials, which are philosophical characteristic of Taoism, have became important foundations for the music of Yoon Yi-Sang. Among the musics of Yoon Yi-Sang, there are many musics, which are concerned to Buddhist thought. As the most representative music, there is a that is a Yoon Yi-Sang's orchestral music announced in Europe in 1960. Bara is a percussion instrument used in the Buddhism of Korea. It is used for a certain Buddhist ceremony. Bara Dance means the 'dance with Bara' in front of Buddhist image. The music used for Bara dance expresses a vanity of nature symbolically through various phenomenons. When considering Buddhist context and subject, (1971) for soprano and orchestra is the next representative music. In the music, it is clear that Buddhist factors of his initial music appear again. His another music, ( 1964) for soprano, baritone, chorus and orchestral music, reveals Buddhist context well. The work, (1981) for combined chorus and percussion instrument, shows Buddhist ceremony well. When considering that the flute quartet expresses the process to gradually reach the stage of ego forgetfulness for deliverance, it can be a Buddhism music. From the facts above, it can be said that the Buddhist concept of the music of Yoon Yi-Sang is impermanence (無常). On the basis of Buddhist thought, the music of Yoon Yi-Sang shows that music is instant and it is only a piece of permanently flowing universal order. Clearly, recognition over vanity of life and artistic expression is a Buddhist factor. It is evaluated that the Yoon Yi-Sang cultivated a new contemporary music by focusing on Buddhist thought out of eastern thoughts in Germany. |
