| 抄録 | Central to the success of the Tibetans who fled to India with only their robes after China invaded their land four decades ago has been the skillful marketing of the Buddhist message of peace and compassion by the Dalai Lama. Most of the exiles have jobs, their children receive free schooling and scholarships for higher education, their basic needs are generally taken care of,and the Tibetan communities-in-exile are largely self-sufficient. Winner of the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize, the Dalai Lama is the spiritual head of the world's six million Tibetans and travels the world four to six months a year, preaching spiritualism. Some of his lectures are free and open to all,but many are not,and the dollars he brings home to the northern Indian city of Dharamsala, the capital of the Tibetan government-in-exile,help run an efficient and corruption-free micro-government. |
