| 抄録 | Since the beginning of its recorded history, ethic norms in Japanese folk culture have shown great internalized traditional strength within the Japanese culture. Through the canonized Shinto myths, the goddess of the Sun, Amaterasuomikami, the hierarchical order, the piety for the emperor became a most important social and ethic norm of the highest value. Eventually, Japanese mythology also incorporated neo-Confucian ideas. A study of folk songs, fairy tales, festivals and legends shows how the ethic norms, inherently religious, permeate the culture intimately, while resonating with nature's rhythm. A comparative study from the point of view of attitude towards social hierarchy in folktales from different cultures will eventually become the task of a future study. |
