The catalog developments of Buddhist Sutras had matured into completion in terms of styles, classifications, and organizations in Sui Dynasty. The book titled“Records of the Three Treasures throughout Successive Generations”originally written by Author Fei, a Buddihist Sutra translation scholar, was firstly classified into autographic category by Shi Zhi Xu in his book titled“Referring to The Buddhist Scripture Accessions for A Direction or Yue Tsang Zhi Jin” in the early Ching Dynasty. The classification was claimed incorrect by Mr. Chen Yuan as he believed it should be listed in the bibliographic category, though, according to Mr. Ruan Zhong-ren’s research, the classification was acceptable as the book was with the quality of historical science. Why did the Author Fei writing the chronicles of Sutras laid particular stress on the history of the sutra translations? What values or meanings did it create with regard to Buddhist historiography and Buddhist text catalogs? This research, basing on philology and with the aid of bibliographic sciences and historiography, is to explore this unique volume of Buddhist Sutras, and so as to ascertain its status in Buddhist lections’ history. Divided into six chapters, the other four chapters besides the introduction and the conclusion are the principal part of the research.
