Buddhism has a variety of views on the essence of forms and changes of things. Among these views, Mahayana Buddhist Mādhyamika’s conception of non-reality of birth has great influence. It is Mādhyamika’s basis of expounding many other views. Madhyamika puts forward the conception of non-reality of birth in the process of criticizing other schools’ theories in the history of Indian thought. It also absorbs many relevant thoughts of Upanisads in working out this conception. The conception of non-reality of birth is prevalent in history and has an important position in the development of Buddhism.
