| Abstract | 儒家的孝道倫理是中國傳統社會的主導價值，佛教要在中國立足和發展，就必須面對儒家孝道至上主義對佛教的質疑。在歷代的爭論中，佛教對於儒家的攻擊採取了比較合理的策略，肯定儒家的孝道倫理的同時，迂迴證明佛教並不違背孝道之義，論證佛教在中國存在的合法合理性。宋代高僧契嵩專門著《孝論》闡發其維護佛教發揚孝道之思想，特別是注重對佛教徒奉行孝道之教化，並提出具體要求，契合中國社會根深蒂固的孝道倫理，促進了佛教在中國的深入發展。 |
