| Abstract | 本文通過對七至八世紀歷史背景的變化的分析，指出，由於貴族知識階層的瓦解與重視實用的普通知識階層的興起，八世紀中葉以 後普遍戰亂中作為理論中心的大寺院的衰敗，使得需要互相砥礪論辯才能厘清思路的理論分析，需要從容地埋頭運算才能進行敘述的純粹理論 ，都成了不合時宜的奢侈。因而八世紀中葉以後，依靠譯經、講經、論辯、造疏維持的佛教理論興趣在逐漸衰退。這種衰退一方面使南北朝初 唐以來崇尚義學的風氣漸漸消解，而對自我體驗式的信仰興趣漸漸滋長﹔一方面使人們對佛教中的放縱散漫的風氣有了警覺，而恪守戒律的高 尚行為又成為士人追求的理想。 |
