| Abstract | A thorough & compelling treatise on Jizo practice--the perfect book for those who are grieving. Jizo，the protector of travelers (both spiritual and profane)，pregnant women and children，is one of the four major bodhisattvas or enlightened beings of Mahayana Buddhism. Bays, a pediatrician and head of a Zen center in Corbett，Oregon，explains traditional practices related to Jizo and growing interest in Jizo in Western Zen Buddhism. Includes photos of，and US sources for，the childlike Jizo images, and Zen masters' wisdom on Jizo's nature. |
